Sometimes it seemed like the WORST part of breeding was borrowing, lending and storing that 4’x4’ plywood box!  For big dogs, the “kiddie pool” substitution just doesn’t give Mom and the pups enough support, and they’re in danger of suffocating for lack of that puppy-protection rail that we build into our plywood boxes.  So we put the big, rigid boxes on the tops of our cars and had the kids hang on tight while we drove s-l-o-w-l-y, hoping it wouldn’t fall off! 

And when we were done, where could we put that behemoth?

So my instructions to Bill, the engineer, were clear:  Build me a full-sized plywood box I could fold and stand in my smallest closet, a box with folding “pigrails” and a latchable hinged door, a box tall enough so pups would be safely contained.  And if possible, build two that fit together, so the pups could sleep and play in one side and housebreak themselves by pottying in the other.
